Spa Jets and The Placebo Effect
Spa jets cause little whirlpools of pleasure in the water and they generate soft superficial massage. This is what producers advertise. However, they are not as efficient as massage agents as we are led to believe – they are tiny squirt generators. Their efficiency derives from our own power of suggestion. The idea of submerging our body in a relaxing medium is reason enough for our senses to lower the guard and feel like an all-powerful god during his/her holiday. The fizzy water whirling around you gives a unique sensation of freedom and calmness and the spa jets bring cheerfulness and joy to the scene. The power our brain has to influence a positive feeling is incredible – it can even magically determine spa jets to seem godlike.
