A silver spoon for her mouth

When our first child was born I was stationed aboard the USS Providence (CLG-3). It was a tradition in the ward room to give a personalized baby gift to each newborn. My daughter was no born with a silver spoon in her mouth but she was given one to use almost immediately after her birth. The sterling silver spoon had her name engraved on it and a very small replica of the ships crest. This was a very unique gift and not one that many children can say they received. I will always treasure the spoon as a memory of the ship and the day my daughter came home.
