An auntomated attendant
I was on the phone the other day, and someone answered my call. I began talking like normal, asking questions and wanting to know who could help me. As soon as I started asking, I realized there was something different about what was happening, but I did not know what right away. I realized after a couple questions that this was an automated attendant, which some might refer to as IVR software. It is a much nicer feature than listening to a recorded message playing over and over again as they are confusing you with the choices you have to make to get to where you want to go.
